What are the hours of the Mansion?

Hours that the Mansion is open to the public for historic tours varies week to week and depends on our event schedule. Please check our calendar for a listing of public open hours. Our administrative hours are Monday – Thursday from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

What are the hours of the Mansion grounds?

The Historic Park, including the grounds and front lawn of the Mansion, is open from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m., unless closed for a private event. Please check our calendar for closures before planning your visit.

Do I need a permit/reservation to photograph at the Mansion?

Mansion exterior: Permits/reservations are not required for any exterior photography for personal use or by professional portrait photographers (including family photos, senior photos, engagement photos or student projects). However, permits/reservations are required at least seven days in advance for commercial use, including but not limited to, catalog shoots, commercials, professional videos, and images intended for wholesale or resale use. Commercial photographers wishing to shoot photo or video on the Mansion property must contact staff first at 303-791-0177 or sappleby@highlandsranch.org.

Photography on the grounds cannot interfere with other park patrons, scheduled programs including open hours, or private events. Please note that during open hours photography sessions are not allowed on the front steps or verandas, as these can block general visitor access to the house. Photography is allowed from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. unless the grounds are closed for a private event. Please check our calendar for closures before planning your shoot. Photographers must comply with park rules and regulations.

Mansion interior: All photography inside the Mansion requires prior approval and may be subject to fees. Please contact sappleby@highlandsranch.org or 303-791-0177.

News Media: Members of the media wishing to shoot photo or video on Mansion property must first contact Sherry Eppers, community relations manager, at seppers@highlandsranch.org or 303-791-0430.

How much do historic tours of the Mansion cost?

Guided and self-guided tours are free and available during public open hours.

Do I need to make a reservation for a historic tour at the Mansion?

Drop-in visitors during public open hours are welcome.

If you would like a guided historic tour, reservations are recommended. You can request a guided tour on our Open Hours and Tours page, or you can call 303-791-0177.

Without a reservation, docents provide guided historic tours on a first-come, first-served basis. Self-guided historic tours are also available.

How long are historic tours of the Mansion?

Depending on the interests of your group, a guided tour can last about an hour. Self-guided tours allow visitors to explore the Mansion at their own pace.

How do I arrange a tour of the Mansion if I’m interested in renting it for an upcoming event or wedding?

Our sales and event coordinator can provide tours and answer any questions you have about renting the Mansion for an upcoming event. Please contact Courtney Smith at hrmansionevents@highlandsranch.org or call 303-791-0177.

How do I check if my date is available for my upcoming event or wedding?

Our sales and event coordinator can check any dates you are interested in and confirm availability. A date can be placed on hold for up to five business days with no obligation. Are animals allowed at the Mansion?

Excluding service animals, animals are not allowed on the Mansion grounds or inside the Mansion.

Can I provide my own alcohol during my upcoming event, or can I bring my own alcohol during a visit to the grounds?

No outside alcohol is permitted on Mansion property, and any alcohol during events must be purchased through the Mansion.

Who owns the Highlands Ranch Mansion?

The Highlands Ranch Mansion is a Highlands Ranch Metro District property. The Metro District is the local government of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, and provides a variety of municipal services to the planned community of 98,000 people. Learn more about the Metro District at highlandsranch.org.

When was the Highlands Ranch Mansion built?

The Mansion was built in 1891, however at that time the home began as a small stone farmhouse built by Samuel Allen Long. Subsequent owners expanded and renovated the building, turning it into the Mansion we know today.
