Solarium

Often referred to as the original ballroom, this elegant space would have been the center of entertainment, hosting parties for Denver’s elite. A beautiful terrazzo floor with copper inlays, created by Italian craftsmen, would have sparkled as guests were welcomed to the hall with a marble fireplace and filled with light. There is also evidence this room was expanded by Frank Kistler during his 1930 expansion and steel supports for the second floor bedrooms were hidden in the wooden coffers that gave the ceiling such distinction. Photographs from the 1930s have revealed the light fixtures on the wall and ceilings are the original ones from this period.
